Mental Model
Storytelling: If I ask you a question about what your 10th standard textbook taught you, you won’t remember but if I ask you something about Harry Potter or Percy Jackson you will. Why is this?
Well, the answer is simple we remember stories. It is a valuable tool to make your audience remember what you communicate. Which is why it is so important for communication in general. A good storyteller is a good communicator. I am also working on my storytelling ability and I have found Nathan Baugh of immense help so do check him out.
In life
In anything that you do in life one thing you are going to need to do is to be a good communicator. Whether you have a job, are a businessman, freelancer, etc. you will need to get the ability to communicate well. If you want to communicate well a small but significant part of it is the art of storytelling so you do need to learn about it.
In Investing
Every company is conveying a story when they are creating a brand and understanding this storytelling is important for us as we are part of the businesses that we invest in. A company which has storytelling power creates brand loyalty and that is what an investor wants in the end.
I am not the best at storytelling but I do try and include some sort of example which can connect with the audience whenever I write about Mental Models. I have a lot of scope for improvement in this area, especially as a writer. I think the power of storytelling is underappreciated. Storytelling also helps us create a deeper level of understanding with us. If you try and create stories for the things you are learning you will realise how hard it is and the gaps in your understanding and the thought of you thinking you understood will be exposed.

Idea
You can justify just about anything: This was eye-opening for me. Humans are always out for self-interest. Killing other people can also be justified if it means you can provide for your family and yourself. Everyone strives for financial independence but it is important for society to have as many people to be financially independent as possible because if they are not then many evil activities can be justified. Money just about justifies anything. For example, If I have enough money and I am content with my life I don’t need to rob a bank or hold someone ransom to make money. Although if some people are envious of other people having more money it is possible that they still perform these activities and justify them as a need. You could also say self-interest justifies just about anything. This is applicable in all fields. In India, many businesses justify their fraud by saying that everyone else also does it so why am I at fault. People can justify wrong actions all day long and think they are not wrong in doing them. It is something you should try and avoid and try not to associate with people who do justify stupid things.
