A quote
“People are trying to be smart - all I am trying to do is not to be idiotic, but it’s harder than most people think.” ~ Charlie Munger
A mental model
Inversion: Inversion is a concept taken from algebra and we can put it to use in our own lives. This is a very powerful mental model and a very simple one which applies to every field. Imagine you have to start learning how to work out. The first thing you should do is identify the mistakes such as not having proper form, not having a good diet, ego lifting, etc.; then you simply avoid these mistakes and you will be good. Same way even in investing and life you can work backwards. See the mistakes and then avoid them. It is a very simple but powerful tool.
“Invert, always invert: Turn a situation or problem upside down. Look at it backwards. What happens if all our plans go wrong? Where don’t we want to go, and how do you get there?
"Instead of looking for success, make a list of how to fail instead–through sloth, envy, resentment, self-pity, entitlement, and all the mental habits of self-defeat. Avoid these qualities and you will succeed. Tell me where I’m going to die so I don’t go there.” ~ Charlie Munger
A Twitter Thread
Even though this thread is a great way to showcase what makes these people successful doing these things is unimaginably hard and you need to have a different drive.

A question to ask
A question that is asked by Luke Bergis in his blog anti mimetic ideas got me thinking about my use of social media.
How many people can honestly and explicitly articulate their purpose, or mission, on social media? Is it to gain followers? Sell books? Build a Substack list? What?
He says if you do not have a valid reason for your social media then it is quite simply being dominated by mimesis. If you want to read more about mimesis read it here.
