A Mental Model

The map is not the territory: The map gives us an idea of the territory but it is not the territory. For example, on maps, Greenland seems like a huge country but in reality, its size is way smaller. In the same way, when you are defining or describing something, it is not the thing itself. The model is not reality. We don’t understand the models and maps until we understand their limitations and respect them

Importance of recurring revenues

When you invest in a business it is preferable to have a business which has recurring revenues because then it does not need to go looking for new customers and win over them. Plus the revenue will grow and compound predictably. Recurring revenues include long-term contracts, auto-renewing subscriptions, supplementary goods, big brands with loyal customers, etc. We can find out if a company has recurring revenues if it has revenue from the above forms.

Sports Update

In F1 Max Verstappen won his second WDC this week as Charles Leclerc’s 5-second penalty caused him to drop to third place. In Football this week: UCL nights for Barcelona might not last too long as they are on the verge of getting knocked out in the group stages. Barca dominated the first half with Dembele scoring just before the break, after Half time though it started going wrong for the Catalans as Barella scored an equaliser to questionable defending by Barca and then Martinez scored the second with a beautiful pass from Calhanoglu. Gosens scored to make it 3-2 but Lewandowski saved Barca to draw the game but it might not be enough to keep them in the UCL. Liverpool eased past Rangers with good performance compared to the Arsenal loss. Salah scored a hat trick in 6 minutes and 12 seconds(fastest in UCL). Chelsea played fluid Potterball to win 2-0 although a shit decision from the referee to give Tomori a red made it easier for Chelsea. Juventus lost shockingly to Maccabi Hafia, Madrid drew, Psg drew and overall a really entertaining week in Football. Manchester United are in the Europa so no point in writing about them.
